”Mom, I swear, I’m doing everything I can.”
Stefani said over her cell phone as she paced around her room, her other hand holding onto a cigarette. When she needed it, she occasionally took a drag, and did her best to blow the smoke out the open window, keeping it quiet so her mother wouldn’t know what she was doing. ”I’ve been on the phone with this airline all afternoon, these people are completely moronic, but I swear by the end of the day your travel plans will be solidified.” When she heard a beep from her phone, she said, ”I’ve got a call on the other line, that’s probably them, I’ll call you later mom. Love you too. Bye.” Clicking the flash button on her phone, she said, ”Hello?” and waited as she heard the person on the other end speak. It had been three days since the incident with the kidnapping and the shooting. Andrea was still in the hospital and would be for about 11 more days. As a favour, Robert had called their parents to tell them what happened, keeping the details scarce because their dad was a cop and he wasn’t going to take well to his daughter being shot as is. Stefani had been doing her best to keep herself busy. Whenever she wasn’t moving or doing something, her mind went right back to that night... And she just couldn’t handle that right now. She barely slept at night, constantly afraid that the man would come to her home or, worse, the hospital to finish what he started. He could come at any moment... and she couldn’t let that thought get to her. ”What is the matter with you, why are you speaking French to me?!” Stefani demanded. When she felt frustrated enough, she switched dialects and began by saying, ” Pouvez-vous s'il vous plaît parler l'anglais? Je suis en train de réserver 2 billets de première classe pour ma mère et mon père... Oui... Non... non non non!” Sighing in exasperation, she took a nice long drag of her cigarette before saying, ”Alright, forget it. Yeah, bye.” With that she hung up her phone, sitting in her office chair. For a moment she glanced at the blank screen of her desktop computer. But when she did, she saw her sister’s face as a bullet was flying through her body. Deciding that another distraction was in order, she put out her cigarette in a small ashtray on her desk, turned on her iPod, plugged in her speakers, and then began writing out Andy’s amount of homework that Stefani agreed to do for her. If there's anyone who knew about how stressed Stefani felt, it was Koryu. He was the one who reassured her at the hospital, and it was he who had saved both of them form getting killed by some kind of religious nut, if he heard Andrea right. Now Stefani was going through hell, and he knew it. He decided to drop by to visit her. It had been three days since they parted...
He hoped she was doing well at the ver least. Although for some reason, he doubted it.
With that, he walked up the porch and rang the doorbell, waiting for a response. He hoped he didn't catch her at a bad time. He didn't know she picked up on his bad habit - he honestly didn't encourage it in anybody, and only thought she smoked that one time to help hide teh fact that she was crying. But still.

Luckily, things like homework were nice and simple for Stefani. Especially math. Numbers were constant, and they would never let her down in a good distraction. Just working through the various steps and equations calmed her in an odd way. Out of the twins, Stefani knew she was more intelligent, but if Andrea applied herself more she was sure that she could go a long way. As she wrote, she wondered what Rob was up to. He probably wasn’t home, and given that Andrea wasn’t working anymore, he would probably take it upon himself to get some more shifts as the lifeguard at the pool. Stef would do what she could to man the snack bar as well, but she wasn’t all that worried about it. Just then, she heard a knock on the door downstairs. Pausing her iPod, she went downstairs and answered the door. ”Oh, Koryu. Hi.”
she said, not having expected him to stop by today. She didn’t smile quite as much as she might’ve previously to see that he had stopped by for a random busy, but her mind was occupied with other things. Plus she was pretty exhausted from not having slept well the past couple days. ”I’m doing some homework upstairs, but come on in, I shouldn’t be too much longer.” With that she led him into the house and up the stairs to her room. She sat back down at her desk, and as she wrote away in a notebook, putting her iPod on a low volume so there was some background noise. ”So what have you been up to?” she asked him, still working on these math problems. Oh, Koryu. Hi.
Koryu nodded, replying, "Hello." He could see that she looked a little worse for wear, but considering her situation, he couldn't blame her. But still, it seems she kind of let the stress of the whole situation get to her. Koryu was used to this kind of stress, evidently, but it seems that Stefani could use a bit more help in managing it.
I’m doing some homework upstairs, but come on in, I shouldn’t be too much longer.
Koryu nodded and he followed her. He eventually noticed the fact that she now had a new ashtray, which also had a cigarette. Koryu frowned. He didn't support smoking, and just because a good guy like him smoked, doesn't mean that one should follow his example. But he knew that he had no right to preach to her - she would probably hate preaching now considering the situation. And so he just kept quiet about the whole situation.
So what have you been up to?
He decided to be blunt. "Worried about you, and thinking that you need a vacation," he said. Indeed, she looked much the worse for wear. Then he caught sight of her bandages. "And I believe you need a change of bandages. I can help you witht hat, if you like."

She just gave him a confused look. What did he mean by vacation? Didn’t he realize that this was a crucial moment in her life and she had to be around to make sure everything went smoothly, like checking up on her sister and keeping Robert calm and getting her parents flown in? Just where in that mesh of things was time for a vacation? He then asked her, "And I believe you need a change of bandages. I can help you with that, if you like." She shook her head as she glanced at the watch she was wearing and said, ”Don’t worry about it, I can do it myself. Besides, it’s not time yet; I have a timer on my iPod that tells me when to change them.” Right now, she didn’t really have all that much time to focus on Koryu, or even to stop and chat. She continued writing away, glancing towards her iPod on her desk for a moment, which was sitting on top of a hardcover book about Atheism. She’d started reading a bit last night before both attempting to sleep and before admitting to herself that she wasn’t going to get much sleep. Long story short, she was about halfway through. ”Was there anything you needed by chance?” Stefani asked him, going back to her math homework, penciling in the last problem. ”Not that I mean to be rude or am trying to show you the door or anything, honest. You’re just saying weird stuff.” Like about a vacation, which was clearly not an option for her right now. Even if it was, she wouldn’t take it. Moving around and keeping herself busy was what kept her sane. When she finished with Andrea’s homework, she moved over to her sister’s side of the room. Over the past three days she’d basically tidied the whole floor, changed her sheets and made the bed, and organized her make-up on her vanity by type and shade. Now she was moving towards her bookshelf, similar to the one she herself had, only there were more magazines kept in plastic racks than there were books, and she began organizing them by title and issue, her iPod’s music still playing in the corner. ’When the roof caved in and the truth came out, I just didn’t know what to do...’[/blockquote] ``stats done ``tagging hayate ``word count 438 ``listening to Whatcha Say by Jason Derulo ``notes N/A ``lyrics: hello brooklyn by all time low made by megaru . don't steal. it's so not cool. she will sick ninjas on your butt if you steal.

Don’t worry about it, I can do it myself. Besides, it’s not time yet; I have a timer on my iPod that tells me when to change them.
Koryu understood that much and nodded, but he was still worried for her. She looked like she was about to break down any second. Anyone could see that. Especially him. But nevertheless, he kept his mouth shut. He knew why she was nervous. If that killer knew where she was, she wasn't safe at all. She barely dodged death. He of all people knew that. And he noticed the book on atheism. HE wasn't surprised about that either.
Was there anything you needed by chance? Not that I mean to be rude or am trying to show you the door or anything, honest. You’re just saying weird stuff.
He thought about telling her the truth, but thought better of it. "No. I just wanted to see how you were doing is all," he replied, watching as she went to organize everything. She was keeping herself distracted, he knew that much. But he kept his mouth shut about it. This was... quite a situation everyone was under.

As she pulled out a stack of magazines from one of the racks, setting them on her sister’s bed, she heard as he said, "No. I just wanted to see how you were doing is all," and Stefani looked towards him after she set the magazines down. No... that wasn’t it. There was something else. ”You look like you have something else to say as well.”
she told him, and then moved back towards the shelf, grabbing another stack of magazines. ”You can keep talking to me while I’m working, I assure you I have the capacity to multi-task>” Starting with these two stacks of magazines, she began sorting them, pulling out various issues of Cosmopolitan with raunchy titles, as well as some of her older magazines, such as People and J-14. Looking over at Koryu, she said, ”At the vest least, sit down at my desk or on my bed; you’re making me feel uncomfortable by watching you just stand there.” Looking back, she went back to sorting. While it was true that she hadn’t gotten a lot of sleep the past couple days, and she certainly had a lot on her mind, she’d strengthened up to the point where she wasn’t going to let herself break down and crumble like she had that night at the hospital with Koryu. Stefani had a problem forgetting about that element of the night... Koryu had been so kind to her, just holding her as she cried for who knows how long. She couldn’t even remember how she got home, and thought perhaps either Koryu had driven her or he’d carried her to her brother who’s taken her home. In all honesty, she felt bad about not being able to thank Koryu about what he did for her that night, but she didn’t feel like bringing up, at least not right now. Perhaps another day... You look like you have something else to say as well.
Well, true, he had another reason that he came here. But, considering the whole situation, is it really proper to ask her to do so? It would be really selfish of him, and very inappropriate... he was shaken out of his train of thought when Stefani continued talking to him.
You can keep talking to me while I’m working, I assure you I have the capacity to multi-task.
Koryu blinked. Okay, that was probably true, but beside the point. Besides, he wasn't even sure what to talk about now. Except maybe the real reason why he came, but he was still debating in his mind whether to mention it or not. Well, she did need a small vacation...
At the very least, sit down at my desk or on my bed; you’re making me feel uncomfortable by watching you just stand there.
He nodded and did so, sitting on the bed. He got a closer look at her. She looked deeply stressed... there was nothing else for it. She needed something to distract her from her work. Ironic, considering that he was considered a workaholic. Did everyone looking at him working think the same thing he was thinking now? Well, no matter.
"How about I take you out for tonight? As a bit of a break?" he asked.

If he’d asked her that a few days earlier, her mind would’ve immediately gone to the best scenario possible, that he was asking her out. Honestly, her mind headed in that direction now too, but she didn’t let it linger there for more than a few seconds, when she realized that she’d stopped moving and turned to look at him for a single second. As she went back to sorting the magazines on her sister’s bed, she pushed the thought out of her mind. ”Sorry, Koryu, I’m just kind of swamped right now, you know?” She took a stack of sorted magazines and walked across the room with them to put them into one of the plastic olders. ”What with trying to get my parents flown in and going to see Andy at the hospital, plus taking care of things here at home. There’s not a lot of time for a break right now.” The song on her iPod soon changed, and she continued putting magazines away on the racks. She wanted to ask him how work was, to try and get him to start talking about something, anything, that would work as more of a distraction. [/blockquote] ``stats done ``tagging hayate ``word count 293 ``listening to All Around Me by Flyleaf ``notes I was thinking that somehow the conversation could lean towards the night at the hospital, where he comforted her. Sorry, Koryu, I’m just kind of swamped right now, you know?
Koryu could see that much. She was keeping herself busy and driving herself nuts, which was probably what she intended. After all, such memories, especially if they're recent, can't be buried easily. Still, it hurt Koryu to see her like this. He wish he could help, honestly...
What with trying to get my parents flown in and going to see Andy at the hospital, plus taking care of things here at home. There’s not a lot of time for a break right now.
Again, he could understand. She sounded busy, and frankly, talking to him was just trying to make herself even more busy. It still hurt him, though. "Alright, if that's how you feel. It's just... I just wanted to help, ever since that night." The night that they were waiting at the hospital, where he hugged her and she cried her heart out. He never felt closer to her than that time...

Even after speaking to Koryu, she continued moving, putting the magazines back on the shelf in their appropriate racks. Stefani didn’t have a clue what she was going to work on next… the main floor was spic and span, she’d tidied Andrea’s side of the room already, and Stefani kept her side tidy at all times, no matter the conditions. Perhaps she could give her brother a call and see if he would mind if she went into his room to tidy it up. So long as she promised not to read any writing that he was currently working on, she was pretty sure he’d be okay with it. While there was still one stack of magazines to be put away, when she heard Koryu say, "Alright, if that's how you feel. It's just... I just wanted to help, ever since that night"
, she stopped working. Of course, Stefani remembered that night too, all too clearly. She’d clung to Koryu, almost for dear life, and when she couldn’t stop herself from crying, for the first time in her life, she’d let down all her boundaries and just sobbed into his chest, and cried for multiple reasons, all of them justified. Even so, she’d vowed after that night not to let herself slip like that again. ”You don’t need to worry about me; that won’t be happening again.” she told him, still facing the shelf, her back to Koryu. However, while she’d be more than happy to just leave it at that, she couldn’t let herself do that. Koryu had done something inexplicably kind for her, by letting her get all she’d had pent-up out of her system and remaining there for comfort, even affection of some sort. The human in her that wanted to cry every second of the day demanded that she not just leave it at that. Stefani didn’t go to pick up more magazines, but instead, she moved to stand in front of where Koryu was, sitting on her bed. ”I’d like to forget about that night… but I still really want to thank you for being there for me when I really needed somebody. It meant the world to me that night.” She even leaned forward a bit, her hand resting over his for a moment as she placed a kiss on his cheek. When she pulled back and looked into his eyes for a moment, she heard the alarm on her iPod go off. She turned it off, letting the music play again, and was thankful for another excuse to go back to keeping busy again. She grabbed the bandages, metal clips and the ointment that were stacked on her desk, and went to sit on the edge of her bed that was facing Andrea’s bed. She pulled up the leg of her jeans so she could remove the bandages on her left ankle first. You don’t need to worry about me; that won’t be happening again.
Koryu nodded. At least she was doing better - he was happy about that. But nevertheless, he could tell she wasn't exactly doing great. Well, there was nothing else they could do. Koryu didn't really need any thanks. He was just doing what any good man would do. Then she surprised him with a kiss ont he cheek.
I’d like to forget about that night… but I still really want to thank you for being there for me when I really needed somebody. It meant the world to me that night.
He blinked in surprised, turned a bit red, and smiled. "Oh, um, glad I could help," he replied, rubbing the back of his neck. Then she suddenlyw ent to change her bandages. He blinked and said, "I can help with that." With that, he came over, began unwrapping her bandages, and wrapping them again. He worked on her ankles, then reached her wrist. He hesitated, then kissed her wrist after he unwrapped it.

Stefani hesitated, but he already began to unwrap the bandage on her left ankle, so she decided that it couldn’t hurt to let him help her. So long as he was careful with her feet; they were incredibly ticklish, and not even in the pleasant way. She watched him remove her earlier bandages, and surveyed her ankles as he did so. They were still red, though they weren’t exactly scabbed as much anymore, the skin just looked raw. Those ropes she’d been tied up with had really cut into her skin when she tried to move towards her sister after she’d been shot. It pained her to look at her injuries, since all the memories just came rushing back. The fear that stabbed through her heart, the tears that streamed down her face, trying to scream at this man through the tape that was over her mouth... Stefani blinked, trying not to let herself recollect that evening, and just went back to watching Koryu. He’d just finished on her second ankle. Stefani did her best to keep her mind from the darker regions it tended to wander towards nowadays, and just watched as Koryu removed the bandage from her wrist. Out of the blue, she watched Koryu’s head lower towards her wrist, and her face immediately flushed as she felt his warm breath on her tender skin. His lips rested there for a moment, and his kiss was gentle and considerate on her injury. The gesture was immensely tender, and she could feel a kind of warmth spread over her entire body. And she didn’t pull her wrist away, but merely sat there and looked down at him. Koryu wasn't quite sure why he kissed her wrist. It was... unintentional, and kind of unconscious. He cuold feel her skin, though, on his lips. Soft, and smooth, not to mention warm. It was rather nice. He gave a second kiss to her wrist, letting his lips linger on there a little more. He looked up, and saw her looking at him. She... was surprised, he could tell, but didn't look like she didn't enjoy it.
If he was in ihs normal mood, he would probably back off and apologize. But as it is right now... he didn't want to apologize for some reason. Instead, he moved up... and kissed her on the lips instead. Even softer and smooth. It reminded him of his old girlfriend... he moved on, though. Well, he' was just going to enjoy the moment.

Stefani continued to watch him after he kissed her wrist. For the first kiss, she was just surprised, and other than noticing how soft and warm his lips were, not a lot went through her mind. However, when the second kiss came around, she could feel her blood pumping and the skin under his lips began to tingle. Without any kind of warning, her mind was thrown through an imaginary and somewhat erotic scenereo between her and Koryu, which included a third, more passionate kiss from Koryu, his moving up and laying her down on the bed, one incredibly lustful kiss and – then she did her best to push away the fragment of her imagination that was shared between her and her sister. Her free hand gripped the sheets at her side, almost as a way to keep herself from trying to act out that scenario. Then he looked up at her, and his eyes met hers in the process. Stefani didn’t have a clue what was going through his mind, given that the kisses to her wrist were completely random. She honestly wished that she could know what he was thinking. However, shortly enough, she was given an answer. He moved up, and suddenly his lips were on hers, but the kiss wasn’t rushed or lustful, but instead was gentle, even tender. There was passion there, but no real immediacy. Closing her eyes, Stefani moved, hesitantly, to kiss him back. Her hand even moved so her fingers curled behind his neck, her palm resting on his cheek. Clearly Koryu didn’t want things to stop, and quite frankly she didn’t want them to either. It still took a lot to keep the more perverted part of her imagination in check, but so far she was successful. ``stats done ``tagging hayate ``word count 296 ``listening to All Around Me by Flyleaf ``notes N/A ``lyrics: hello brooklyn by all time low made by megaru . don't steal. it's so not cool. she will sick ninjas on your butt if you steal.
